Barnslate support

Current version

The private alpha has no public build. TestFlight and App Store downloads are closed. We will post the current version and build number here before release.

Barnslate requires an iPhone running iOS 26 or later.

Known issues

• No installable public build is available.
• iCloud sync, sharing, backup, and restore are being validated and may change before release.
• Alpha data formats are not guaranteed to carry into the public release.

Common fixes

These steps will apply when test builds begin:

• Install the newest TestFlight build available to you and confirm the iPhone is running iOS 26 or later.
• Close and reopen Barnslate. If the interface remains stuck, restart the iPhone.
• Check which homestead is active and whether it is stored only on the device or uses iCloud.
• Do not delete the app as a troubleshooting step until you have verified a separate, restorable backup.

Backup guidance

Backups you export are files you own. Keep a verified copy somewhere other than the iPhone. If you encrypt a backup, keep its passphrase separately: Barnslate cannot recover a lost passphrase.

Before a destructive change such as deleting the app or replacing a device, confirm the last backup time and make sure the file can be reached. Backup and restore remain pre-release features and are not yet available in a public build.

Privacy and diagnostics

Barnslate is designed without a support, crash-reporting, or analytics SDK. A diagnostic package is created only when you ask for one, and you can review it before sending it.

Diagnostics may include the app version and build, iOS version and device class, schema and backup versions, storage mode, recent stable error codes, subsystem state, last-backup status, and aggregate counts.

They exclude record contents, homestead and record names, passphrases, CloudKit identifiers, participants and invitations, attachment contents, search text, clipboard contents, notification contents, and private file paths. See the draft privacy policy for the complete data-handling explanation.

Response expectations

We read support email during development. Response times will vary until the app is released. Contact the appropriate local service for emergencies or professional veterinary, legal, or financial advice.

Include the Barnslate version and build, iOS version, iPhone model or device class, what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened. Send private homestead records only when they are needed to explain the problem.
