Barnslate

The short version

Barnslate does not collect your homestead records. Records live on your iPhone. If you turn on iCloud sync or share your homestead, records are stored in your iCloud account under Apple’s terms. Glacierline Studio LLC does not receive them.

There are no ads, analytics, tracking, or Barnslate record servers.

What Barnslate stores, and where

  • Animals, equipment, plantings, tasks, photos, notes, inventory, and money entries are stored in a database on your device.
  • If you enable iCloud, Apple’s CloudKit service syncs that database to your devices and to the people you invite. The records remain in your iCloud account, controlled by your Apple ID.
  • Backups you export are files you own. If you encrypt one, its passphrase never leaves the device and is not stored by Barnslate. A lost passphrase means the backup cannot be opened.

What Barnslate sends elsewhere

Barnslate does not automatically send homestead records to Glacierline Studio LLC. Barnslate 1.0 is designed to make network connections only to:

  • Apple CloudKit, if you enable iCloud sync or sharing.
  • Apple’s App Store and StoreKit, which process the purchase. We receive no personal information from it.

Barnslate contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs and sets no advertising identifiers.

Contacting support

Help → Contact Support opens a mail composer. Nothing is sent until you review and send it. The support mailbox receives the address, message, and attachments you choose to include so the request can be answered.

A diagnostic attachment is user-initiated and reviewable. It is designed to contain app and device state plus stable error codes, not record contents, homestead names, credentials, CloudKit identifiers, or file contents.

Support correspondence is not automatic app collection and is used only to investigate and answer the request.

On-device intelligence

If your iPhone supports Apple Intelligence and you use Help me log this, Apple’s on-device model processes the text you enter. Barnslate does not send it to a developer server, and nothing is saved until you review and confirm the record.

Sharing a homestead

Everyone you invite with editor access can see and change all records in that homestead, including money entries. Viewers can see everything but change nothing. Barnslate shows who logged or changed shared records to the other members of that homestead. Device-only preferences and drafts are not shared.

Your records are yours

You can export all records at any time as CSV files and a complete backup archive, without an account or a support request. Deleting the app deletes its on-device database. Copies in iCloud follow Apple’s iCloud deletion behavior.

Children

Barnslate is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version changes what Barnslate stores or sends, this policy will be updated before the change ships. Any optional collection will be off by default and require permission before it is enabled.
